BACKGROUND:
Keya Wakpala Woiċaġeyapi (Turtle Creek Regenerative Development) will be a living community that nourishes the Siċaŋġu spirit and way of life. The Keya Wakpala Woiċaġeyapi (KWW) site comprises of 590+ acres that eventually will be home to anywhere from 200-600 affordable and accessible quality-built, energy-efficient homes, centered around a community garden and a multi-use gathering space, with places for people to shop and work and for children to play together. Keya Wakpala offers a pathway to reclaiming who we are as the Siċaŋġu Lakota Oyate.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Temporary Keya Wakpala Community Outreach Housing Coordinator will be responsible for connecting the Siċaŋġu community-at-large to the Keya Wakpala Housing Initiative. This is an exciting time as Siċaŋġu Co creates more and more opportunities for homeownership for our Siċaŋġu Oyate at Keya Wakpala. This position plays an essential role by providing families with the information and support they need to pursue owning their own home. This is an hourly paid position, of up to 40 hours a week, covering the maternity leave of the current Outreach Coordinator. Anticipated dates: immediate through mid to late February 2025. Some of this time at the start will enable overlap with the current Outreach Coordinator for training and orientation.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
· Develop a deep familiarity with the Siċaŋġu Co Ecosystem and the Keya Wakpala Project
· Serve as the central point of coordination for community-facing information about Keya Wakpala and the activities happening with the housing project
· Continue existing Keya Wakpala homeownership outreach efforts (distribution of printed materials, work with storytelling team for social media posts, etc), utilizing the materials and procedures currently in place
· Report regularly to the SCDC Director, and the Keya Wakpala Team on progress, challenges and new opportunities; identify decisions and support needed
· Manage schedule, organize meetings with prospective homebuyers, provide consistent and timely correspondence, maintain records (digital and hard copies)
QUALIFICATIONS:
· 1-3 years experience in an office setting
· Knowledge of the Siċaŋġu Community
· Minimum of a High School Diploma
· Proficiency with email, computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
· Preferably some college experience. Human Services, Social Work Studies, Nursing, Education, Business Administration, Communications, or Computer Science helpful
MISCELLANEOUS:
· Primarily works in an office environment
· Occasional housing related events or trainings out of the office
· Meetings are held in-person, and virtually online
COMPENSATION:
· Contract Position immediate through mid to late February 2025
· The Temporary Keya Wakpala Community Outreach Housing Coordinator will be compensated at $21-23 per hour, paid bi-weekly.
