JOB SUMMARY:
The Finance Officer FP&A provides comprehensive financial and administrative support to the organization, including colleagues, clients, and stakeholders. This role is responsible for all aspects of financial management, with a key focus on regular expenditure and revenue projections, developing insightful reports for managers, and presenting financial information in a clear and concise manner to facilitate effective decision-making. The FP&A Finance Officer ensures accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with established policies and procedures in all financial operations. Reporting to the CFO this role primarily focuses on REDCO enterprises and revenue-generating activities, but will provide analysis and support across the ecosystem, including REDCO’s nonprofit partners Sicangu CDC and Tatanka Funds.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The Finance Officer FP&A oversees the following key areas:
Financial Planning and Analysis
Reporting and Visualization
Budgeting and Forecasting
Compliance and Controls
Accounting Operations
Policy development and implementation
Team leadership and supervision
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develop and maintain financial models to forecast revenue and expenditures, conduct variance analysis, and identify trends.
Prepare regular financial reports for managers, highlighting key performance indicators, variances from budget, and areas requiring attention.
Develop presentations and reports that effectively communicate financial information to the board of directors, supporting strategic decision-making.
Collaborate with program managers to develop and monitor program budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and funding requirements.
Assist with the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and internal controls.
Support internal and external audits, including pre-audit preparation and post-audit adjustments.
Serve as a key point of contact for other departments and subsidiaries on financial and accounting matters.
Supervise and mentor finance staff, as assigned, providing guidance and support.
Support leadership with special projects and initiatives as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or related field (required)
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, or related field (preferred)
At least three years in a private sector bookkeeping, financial management, accounting or related role (required)
Proficient in computerized accounting programs (Intacct).
Strong communication skills
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal regulations related to financial assistance
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience working with an Indigenous organization, project, or community
Based in the vicinity of Mission, South Dakota or the willingness to relocate permanently
