Happy National Nonprofit Day!
Happy National Nonprofit Day!🫱🏽🫲🏽
We are excited to share some wonderful highlights from our recent celebration of National Nonprofit Day and National Farmers Market Week.
Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of co-hosting a vibrant community event with the Boys and Girls Club in Mission. It was a beautiful day filled with laughter, delicious food, and meaningful connections as we came together for a reservation-wide potluck. The turnout was fantastic, with community members and local nonprofits coming out to support and share their stories.
Kicicic iya (kee-chee-chee-ch ee-yah) means “join together in a cause”.
We had many guests join us, bringing wonderful foods, desserts, and drinks. The potluck was a feast for the senses, featuring an incredible array of dishes.🍴
From zucchini muffins to buffalo stew to strawberry cake, there was something for everyone to enjoy. A special highlight was the free wakhályapí (coffee) drinks and savory/sweet muffins provided by the Food Sovereignty Initiative through Somethin' Else Coffee and Darin's Delights. It was heartwarming to see our community come together, share food, and learn more about the invaluable work being done by nonprofits in our area.
A special pilámayaye to all who participated, contributed, and made this event a resounding success. Your support and enthusiasm are what make our community events so special. It's moments like these that remind us of the strength and unity within our community. ❤️
We look forward to more opportunities to come together, celebrate, and continue our mission of improving the financial and social well-being of our tribal relatives. Together, we can achieve holistic health, economic self-sufficiency, cultural revitalization, sustainable housing, food sovereignty, climate resilience, and lasting prosperity for the Sicangu people. 💪🏽
Stay tuned for more updates and upcoming events. Until then, wopila (thanks) for your continued support and dedication.
