JOB SUMMARY
Siċaŋġu Co is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Siċaŋġu Community Development Corporation (Sicangu CDC) team as the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director. The Executive Assistant will be a vital support to the Executive Director, ensuring seamless coordination of organizational operations and communications. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to advancing the mission of Siċaŋġu Co. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, capable of managing a wide range of responsibilities, and able to contribute to a collaborative and culturally-driven work environment. This role is intended to be an integral part of the team and an opportunity for career development within the Siċaŋġu Co ecosystem. This role directly supports the Executive Director while reporting to and being supervised by the Deputy Director.

Sicangu Co is an indigenous ecosystem of interconnected organizations and initiatives dedicated to creating a healthier, more prosperous future for the Sicangu Lakota Oyate. Anchored in Lakota values and guided by the principles of self-sufficiency and community empowerment, Sicangu Co operates as a collective effort to strengthen the social, cultural, and economic well-being of the Rosebud Reservation.
Within the ecosystem lies Sicangu Community Development Corporation (Sicangu CDC), a nonprofit organization leading efforts to foster sustainable community development. Sicangu CDC focuses on food sovereignty, education, housing, and health while working collaboratively with other Sicangu Co entities to provide holistic support and opportunities for the community. Together, the ecosystem leverages shared resources, expertise, and partnerships to create impactful, lasting change.
Essential Functions:
● Manage the Executive Director's daily schedule, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
● Arrange travel and accommodations for the Executive Director, Deputy Director, and other team members as needed.
● Handle daily administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling meetings, and preparing reports.
● Coordinate monthly board meetings, including organizing timely board reports and taking board meeting minutes.
● Support the Executive Director in communication and coordination with members of the board.
● Help build and maintain community relations through reliable, effective communication and administration for external partners, stakeholders, and events.
● Coordinate activities, communication, and internal partnerships within Siċaŋġu CDC and the broader Siċaŋġu Co ecosystem.
● Support the Executive Director in their duties external to the CDC, including coordination with the Siċaŋġu Co ecosystem.
● Manage Siċaŋġu CDC's training and coaching platforms, including SkillCycle and LinkedIn Learning.
● Update tracking systems, onboard new members, and serve as the primary point of contact for technical troubleshooting.
● Assist the Deputy Director in reviewing and approving individual professional development plans for team members.
● Support program managers in planning events, managing logistics, and tracking outcomes.
● Assist the Deputy Director in launching and managing project management software for Siċaŋġu CDC.
● Serve as the main point of contact for Initiative Directors and team members regarding the project management system.
● Arrange and assist with the onboarding of new employees in coordination with Human Resources.
● Maintain and organize records, financial reports, and operational documents.
● Assist in tracking data for program activities, budgeting, and grant reporting.
● Contribute to special projects to further Siċaŋġu CDC’s organizational strength or mission progress.
Management retains the right to assign or reassign duties as necessary.
Qualifications, Desired Knowledge, and Skills
Required – Successful candidates will have all of these qualifications
● High School Diploma or GED.
● Demonstrated passion for and understanding of Siċaŋġu CDC’s mission and values.
● Proven experience working in, for, or with Native communities, fostering relationships and cultural understanding.
● Strong ability to navigate ambiguity, ask insightful questions, and develop actionable plans.
● Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines.
● Self-motivated, with the ability to manage time and priorities effectively while working remotely.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills.
● Proven experience with administrative tasks in a professional environment.
● Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
● This is a 100% in-person position based in Mission, South Dakota. There may be opportunities to transition to a hybrid work model based on performance, organizational needs, and approval from the Deputy Director.
Preferred – Successful candidates will have at least some of these qualifications
● College coursework or professional development in relevant administrative or organizational skills.
● Personal, volunteer, or professional involvement in areas aligned with Siċaŋġu CDC’s mission (such as education, health, Lakota language preservation, cultural outreach, sustainable agriculture, conservation, and/or community development).
● Experience planning and coordinating complex logistics for events, meetings, or community gatherings.
● Experience with or knowledge of programs and grant administration, such as: budgeting, reporting, sourcing vendors and contractors, tracking activities, proposals, data collection.
