Anchored in Lakota values and guided by the principles of self-sufficiency and community empowerment, Sicangu Co operates as a collective effort to strengthen the social, cultural, and economic well-being of the Rosebud Reservation.
Within the ecosystem lies Sicangu Community Development Corporation (Sicangu CDC), a nonprofit organization leading efforts to foster sustainable community development. Sicangu CDC focuses on food sovereignty, education, housing, and health while working collaboratively with other Sicangu Co entities to provide holistic support and opportunities for the community. Together, the ecosystem leverages shared resources, expertise, and partnerships to create impactful, lasting change.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Health Coaching Program Manager will oversee the Health and Wellness Coaching Program, managing participant recruitment, program development, event coordination, and the successful delivery of health and wellness services. This position plays a key role in supporting community members on their wellness journeys through personalized guidance and community-focused programming. The ideal candidate will bring a culturally responsive approach to health and wellness programming, particularly for Indigenous communities. The Health Coaching Program Manager will report to the Sicangu Health Initiative Director and work closely with other staff members within the Sicangu Health Initiative (SHI) program of the Sicangu CDC.
Key Responsibilities:
● Manage the daily operations of the Health and Wellness Coaching Program, ensuring high-quality program delivery.
● Design and implement a wellness curriculum tailored to participants’ unique needs and goals.
● Coordinate weekly health coaching sessions, group events, and workshops to promote holistic wellness.
● Recruit, retain, and engage program participants, fostering consistent and meaningful involvement.
● Track participant progress and program outcomes, preparing regular reports for the Health Initiative Director.
● Provide personalized guidance and mentorship to help participants achieve sustainable health outcomes.
● Develop and lead new health coaching initiatives in response to community need and interest.
● Collaborate with the Health Initiative Director and other team members to enhance program offerings.
● Perform other duties as assigned or approved by management.
Qualifications, Desired Knowledge and Skills:
Required:
● Relevant experience in program or project management, including managing multiple tasks, deadlines, and event logistics.
● Proven experience with data tracking tools, program evaluation, and reporting methods related to participant metrics and outcomes.
● Experience working with Indigenous communities and delivering culturally responsive programming.
● Strong organizational and communication skills.
● Progressive knowledge of wellness and lifestyle change methodologies, particularly for underserved communities.
● Proven ability to mentor and motivate participants, addressing barriers to wellness and creating innovative solutions.
● Experience with community outreach and engagement.
Preferred:
● Advanced understanding of culturally relevant wellness approaches for Indigenous communities, including nutrition, physical activity, and holistic health practices.
● Familiarity with social, cultural, and economic factors influencing health outcomes in underserved communities.
● Demonstrated skill in developing and adapting wellness curricula to meet diverse participant needs.
● Capacity to collaborate effectively with team members and community partners.
● Commitment to cultural sensitivity, continuous learning, and professional growth.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
● This position is based on the Rosebud Reservation with opportunities for hybrid work.
● Flexibility to work evening or weekend hours may be required to accommodate participant schedules and program needs.
● This position involves regular communication and interaction with participants and team members.
● Work duties may include sitting for extended periods (up to 70%), standing for events or workshops (3–4 hours), driving to program sites and community events, and occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs).
● Travel within the Rosebud community and occasionally to local and national conferences/events.
