Rosebud-Based Ecosystem Re-Brands as Siċaƞġu Co
SICANGU MAKOCE – The Rosebud Economic Development Corporation (REDCO) announced that it is re-branding under the new name Siċaƞġu Co. Siċaƞġu Co is an umbrella brand that also includes REDCO’s sister organizations Sicangu Community Development Corporation and Tatanka Funds, which all work together under a shared vision and mission.
“As REDCO and our ecosystem have grown over the years, we have expanded by adding new companies and sister organizations and it was getting difficult for our employees and the community to understand how everything all fit together,” said Clay Colombe, Sicangu Co CEO. “The rebrand makes it clear that we are all working together under a shared vision to bring health and abundance to our Oyate.”
Colombe continued, “Not only does it bring us all together, but it also gives us the opportunity to lean into our values and who we are as a Siċaŋġu organization. It challenges us to live up to the Siċaŋġu name and to face the fire in todays’ world. The new name and logo communicate pride in our language and who we are, but it’s much more than just a new paint job.”
According to a statement on the organization’s new website, Siċaŋġu Co’s purpose is to improve the financial and social well-being of the Sicangu Oyate by creating and implementing a 7Gen Vision. The 7Gen Vision imagines a healthy, just, and abundant world Seven Generations from now, and challenges humanity to act today to create that world. 7Gen is grounded in ancestral and cultural Lakota wisdom and requires a holistic, systems-level approach.
Behind the Siċaŋġu Co brand, REDCO will continue to be the economic development arm of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, and serve the function that it has since it was chartered in 1999. Sicangu CDC and Tatanka Funds with both retain their 501(c)3 status and remain legally separate while being absorbed into the Siċaƞġu Co brand.
